Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Wedding Photography

Ken and Tracy's wedding at the Hyatt Regency, Huntington Beach was amazingly beautiful! Slomique from Carpe Diem Special Events & Design did a fabulous job with the decorations, keeping things organized and making sure all the details were just perfect. I was loving everything from Tracy's bouquet, her Lazaro dress, to her stunning ring design, and her evening/ballroom gown. Tracy has impeccable taste! Here are a few of my favorite images:

Travel Photography Washington D.C.

I just got back from a trip to Baltimore, MD for another corporate shoot. While there I had the chance to visit Washington, D.C. very briefly. When I say briefly, I mean I only had a couple of hours of daylight to walk around the nation's capitol. Nonetheless, it was breathtaking to see historical and national landmarks that until now, only saw on television.

The White House

The Old Executive Building, really cool architecture!

and there he is

A small portion of the Vietnam War Memorial - it blew me away to see all the names of each soldier killed in the war. Seeing each name and saying some of them outloud resulted in an internal reaction in me that I cannot even begin to describe. It made me realize how precious life really is.

Orange County Wedding Photography Fullerton

I always suggest to couples that they do the "First Meeting" photo session (the couple meets for a romantic moment before the ceremony) because of the many advantages. When we (my special guest shooter was Miguel Pola) did Jamie and Victor's First Meeting at Via del Sol in Fullerton, we got some nice romantic images from it without the stress of being under time constraints. Another plus from it is that we get the chance to have fun and be creative.

Travel Photography Amana Colonies Iowa

So I had a little more free time and drove down to the Amana Colonies in Iowa. It's an historic landmark that consists of seven villages which reflect an old world "communal culture". Here, you will not find a Walmart or a 24 hr restaurant. You'll see buildings that kept the architectural traditions of Colonial America. Here's a few images I took while walking around:

Then I went back to the downtown parts of Cedar Rapids.

Travel Photography Cedar Rapids Iowa

I'm away this week doing a corporate shoot for Toyota Financial Services (TFS) in Cedar Rapids, IA. The weather right now is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how it's so green out here (lots of trees and farms all around the city). I had some time to explore the dowtown area so I took a few snapshots. Here's one of the historical courthouse from across the river:

Happy Father's Day!

I hope that all you fathers out there had a wonderful time today. I had a chance to hang out with my family, and although we really didn't do much other than watch the U.S. Open Championship, it was a good time to relax and reflect.

I realize that we (myself and the rest of my family) are blessed largely in part because of my Dad. He dedicated himself to doing whatever it took to get us here so that we can have a better life and opportunities. His life has been pretty much working hard to provide for his family. While growing up I had it fairly easy because of him, but I never truly appreciated it then. Well now I'm a father and I can finally see his perspective - to know what it means in having the responsibility of taking care of one's own family. Everytime I look at my two year old daughter Rebekah I feel this deep desire to give her the world. That's what my father strived to do for us, to give us the world. I understand that now (finally) and it took a daughter, a loving father, and day of watching golf for me to figure that out.

So when I get home with my (loving beautiful thoughtful glowing) wife, Lily and the cute patootie Rebekah, and they had the coolest (totally undeserved) gift ever! Check this out:

I fell in love with this thing when I first tried it at a Brookstones - it squeezes and massages away tension and fatigue from your feet, calves, and ankles. What a perfect gift for a photographer who sometimes runs around all day nonestop on his feet! I feel so loved.

Los Angeles Arboretum Engagement Photographer

Carola and Anthony wanted to do their e-session at the L.A. Arboretum so we can take advantage of the lush backgrounds. I love this place because there's so many beautiful spots, like this little waterfall.

Sometime I enjoy experimenting with Photoshop. Here's a few images that I came up with while playing around with textures. It could actually make certain moods a little more dramatic, or it could just give the image a vintage feel.

On The Leading Edge

That's the title of a really cool write up about my studio for the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) Newsletter. I was a little surprised when I started getting congratulatory emails from friends about it. They got to read it before I did!

It touches on how I started as a wedding photographer, the beginnings of my studio, and where I am now. I have to say that I've been really blessed that I'm able to be creative and follow my passion.

Casa Romantica Wedding Photography San Clemente

April and Erik's wedding this Saturday was at one of my favorite venues in San Clemente. Casa Romantica is perfect for people who want their wedding ceremony to overlook the Pacific Ocean. The view from this Spanish style home is simply fantastic. At first it seemed like it was set to be a cold cloudy day, but it turned out to be realy nice - not too cold nor too hot. The sky was overcast, but it provided perfect lighting for photos.

I had a blast with April and Erik's photo shoot - they're such naturals!
