Corel Painter X

I just purchased Corel Painter version X and I'm loving what it can do! It's been a very long time since I picked up a pencil or brush, and I'll probably never have the same skills as I had when I was illustrating and working in animation. Corel allows me to paint without having to dig up my art supplies. It's a heck of a lot cleaner too. I'm using an old Wacom II tablet, and I find it strange to be scribbling on a tablet while looking at the monitor. I'll just have to get used to that part. Here's my first attempt at using Painter:

Here is the original picture of Kristen and Brian:

Just my two cents here. But I prefer the image unedited.

I think I chose the wrong image to paint. The reason being that it's a very nice image that stands on it's own so it can't truly be enhanced by merely adding a painterly quality. My attempt was nonetheless enjoyable.

Wow! That looks amazing! I love it! I don't know...I like it both ways. I think that if the unedited version wasn't there...you'd get 'wows' on the painted version. It's very romantic...sort of 'fantasy'.

can't wait to see more of what you come up with!

are you actually painting on the image or just bluring what's there? how much time did it take to get to where you went with this particular image?

Hey Tim

I really have no idea what I'm doing (yet), but so far I've been doing both blending the bg and painting right over it using the tracing paper mode. I played with this image for about two hours.
