It's faster, better looking, smarter, and much more powerful! My New Blog is Finally live!

First thing I need to say is THANK YOU for being so patient with me - I know it took so long to get the new blog (click here) up and running. I think I just got a bit too ambitious with programming the back end of it, made it too complex, added to many 'widgets', and it just wasn't very good. I finally ended up using a ProPhoto Blog template and my world suddenly got better! If you're also looking to update or get a new blog, I highly recommend ProPhoto hands down. The new one is faster, sleeker, way better, and definitely more powerful when it comes to being visible on the internet. The best feature for me is that it is much easier to tweak now. Congratulations to Phil and Jeanne!

It was one of the grandest weddings this year with over 500 guests, several locations, three different ceremonies, and lots of beautiful people. Jeanne and Phil started their wedding with traditional Indian culture by hosting a Sthuthi ceremony with their respective families. It was a combination of a prayer followed by blessings from their relatives. Then this was followed by a traditional Catholic ceremony at Holy Family in Artesia, mixed with some Indian traditions.

Right after the ceremony we jumped into a party bus with the entire bridal party and headed for the beach!

Sometimes I manage to find "gem" images such as this peephole on the balcony. I love how this shot is so beautifully framed by the symmetric window between the two pillars.

I'm sure there's a great story to how or why this shoe was left here...

I took Kristina and Rafael to Craig Park in Brea to do some intimate portraits, and to give them some time alone as bride and groom. Moments like this are precious and memorable since it's the only part of the day when they get to spend quiet moments together.

While Diana was getting ready for her big day, I showed her the book of her engagement photo session we did at Laguna Beach and Mission San Juan Capistrano. It turned out amazing, but the best part of it was seeing Diana's face light up when she first saw the pictures.

The first meeting was a complete surprise for Diana! Gabe managed to sneak up behind her. I love these spontaneous moments because they're natural and memorable for both of them.
That first moment when they see each other is intimate, intense, passionate, unrushed, unrehearsed, and nobody is there to interrupt. It's about them and their wedding day, and the first moment together belongs to them alone.

Wedding Photography Class @ Cypress College - Fall 2009

I'm really blessed to be able to teach at Cypress College! This fall semester I got a great group of eager students that compose of a wide range of backgrounds. Some are just starting out in the world of photography, ambitious to learn as much and as fast as they can. Some are more advanced or have even done pro gigs as photographers, enthusiastic about learning more about the business side and wanting to improve their photography skills. All are here to learn about wedding photography.

Guest Speaker: Jasmine Star!
To start off the semester with a BANG, we had the honor of having Jasmine Star as our special guest speaker. She WOWed the class with her personality and excellent presentation.

Jasmine showed us that the most important asset that we each had was our individual personality. She explained her business philosophy and how she leveraged her assets. She gave so much useful information but the best thing she talked about was being yourself. So true because nobody else has what you have.

And after each class lecture I typically would take some students out to shoot around campus. There's just no better way than to learn anything hands on.

Pamela & Nathan's Wedding in Dana Point, CA

Congratulations to Pamela and Nathan!

I've been looking forward to their wedding ever since we did their engagement pictures on the mountains up in Chino Hills. They looked so good in pictures because they have a way of tuning out the world and getting lost into each others eyes. That means I get to easily capture truly romantic and natural images of them together.

Right after the ceremony we went down to the Dana Point Harbor with their bridal party to take some pictures against the Pacific Ocean background. They must have had some party in the limo because by the time we got there (short drive) everyone was ready to rock and roll! The photo shoot was hilarious - imagine a large group of young people all dressed up, yelling, cheering, dancing, and climbing up on the jetty rocks! The pictures came out amazing.

We also had the great opportunity to do more pictures in nearby San Juan Capistrano. The Mission San Juan Capistrano is perfect for the romantic part of wedding photography.

The two of them first met while traveling in Chile, so naturally on their first dance Nate and Pam performed a traditional Chilean folk dance. They did fantastic!

Debbie & Martin's Wedding at Stone Manor in Malibu

Congratulations to Debbie and Martin on their beautiful wedding! The setting was at the scenic Stone Manor atop the hills of Malibu. This place was completely set up for everything - Debbie got ready upstairs, the reception site was on a lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and the reception set up was on one of the terraces around the mansion.

E! Entertainment segment on Trash the Dress

I was contacted a few weeks ago by E! Entertainment about a new morning show they're creating that will air this Fall season. The new show will be (tentatively) called The Breakfast Show, airing nationwide on E! Entertainment. The new show's producer Stacey wanted to do a segment on "Trash the Dress" (TTD) and so what better way to learn all about this bridal trend than to experience it for herself?!

The premise behind Trash the Dress: if you're a bride you're probably going to spend a considerable amount of time (and money) finding the perfect dress that you'll fall in love with. Sadly after your wedding day, you may never put on that dress again - after all, your husband is your one and only true love right? And realistically, your (future) daughter will not want to wear your dress. There's no future occasion to put it on again, unless you create a reason to. In planning a Trash the Dress session, you'll have the most amazing time wearing your wedding dress a second time, but you'll be free from worrying about keeping it in pristine condition. This gives you the freedom to be creative, daring, sexy, and adventurous! Afterward, you have the option to donate the dress rather than storing it forever. Stacey and Wil wanted to see what it's all about so they dressed up like a bride and groom then headed to Laguna Beach with me for a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot!

We totally had a blast in the water, on the rocks, and all over the sand! But that wasn't enough - Stacey wanted to go all out. What else could top a frolic on the beach in a wedding dress? I think the next segment would make most brides gasp and cringe at the thought of what we had planned...

We picked up some paintball gear, the same wedding dress, a box of paintballs, then headed for the woods to shoot. With guns.

At the end of the day Stacey was exhausted and bruised up, but the dress actually held up fairly well.

It was one of the grandest weddings I've ever photographed, and certainly one with the most intricate details. Linda Ly of Grand Soirees Event Design & Coordination (yes she's both the bride and event designer) put her creative talents and passion to good use as she hand crafted most of the wedding decor, props, and giveaways. Being a fabulous wedding planner herself and having seen some amazing weddings, Linda had a grand design. "Once the ring was on her finger, Linda begain planning her wedding immediately."

Marcy & Tom's Wedding at Sherwood Country Club

Congratulations to Tom and Marcy! Their fabulous wedding took place on a beautiful day at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA. We had the opportunity to do their wedding photos before the ceremony - which meant that we had the freedom to roam around the venue in golf carts! They had their first meeting next to the waterfall, then we took a short trip to the ranches surrounding Sherwood.

I loved the county feel in the surrounding areas just outside the gates of Sherwood Country Club. One of these properties belong to David Murdock.

We also gained access to the wine cellar!

LaCie d2 DVD±RW 22x with LightScribe disc labeler

I got the LaCie Lightscribe disc labeler for the Mac! It didn't work the first time I tried it though, but found the solution on the web: LaCie support
It's the only lightscribe burner that works for the Mac (that comes with the software) that I've found. So far it's working great!

Congratulations to Gladys and Mike! It was a gorgeous wedding in Los Angeles

Gladys and Mike's wedding ceremony at Saint Steven's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral stands to be one of the most breathtaking events I've photographed. Its architecture and lighting design is what impressed me the most. It's like everything was designed to photograph well in all angles!

They wanted to spend some intimate time together so I let them sort of wander around Downtown Los Angeles where we ended up at Bunker Hill Steps and across the street from the Library. It was fun just following Gladys and Mike around as they enjoyed every moment.

Lately my engagement shoots have turned into hiking trips. It's probably because I've been wanting to be outdoors and getting to the best spots sometimes take a little walking. I totally don't mind it because it's always worth the hike! With Ally and Dave we had fun exploring the cliffs above Crystal Cove and we finished the shoot with a sunset dip in the water. Sometimes a simple thing becomes something immensely bigger. When Joe looked Shelby in the eyes, it began as a simple gesture. But that simple thing showed how much they loved each other. It became a lingering gaze, an expression of gladness, and a statement of affection that words cannot replace. Then their hands met and both smiled as if they've been waiting for this moment all of their lives.

We had planned to do their photo shoot outdoors, on a hill maybe, or something scenic. We went to the perfect place atop the Chino Hills State Park trails. It was truly scenic but it came with a price. It was not an easy hike up the mountain!

Once we got near the top I realized that it was all worth it. This place had so many places to shoot and no matter which way you turn there was a great photo opp.

Of course it also helps when the couple I'm shooting is comfortable with being themselves. Nathan and Pam were just having a wonderful time together. It shows.

Nazli and Siavash held their ceremony and reception at The Orange Hill Restaurant in Southern California. The decor consisted of colorful details, exotic foods, and Persian confectioneries. The ceremony was a hoot - I couldn't understand a thing that was said, but everyone was having the time of their lives. It was such a happy occasion that was filled with laughter and the reception was just off the hook!

What a gorgeous day and location for Janelle and Ben's wedding - Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita offers a spectacular 360 degree view of the course and rolling hills.

As I entered the bridal room I can hear the Christian worship music in the background. Janelle was in the middle of getting her hair and makeup done. Tears were in her eyes. I can feel the anticipation, the excitement, the love. She was looking radiant!

I love it when I find little treasures like this!

I just can't believe I didn't know about the Anaheim Sheraton before! It's an awesome venue with Tudor-style architecture, several atrium gardens, and a really cool/modern lobby. It provided a beautiful setting for Gina and Doug's wedding day.

Gina was completely surprised when Doug snuck up from behind! I'm glad they decided to do their pictures during their first meeting - we had so many opportunities to catch them just having fun.

Christa and Justin's wedding at the Mission Inn was such a blast! We started the day with their first meeting - Christa had no idea that Justin had snuck up behind her during her 'solo' portraits. She was totally surprised and overcome with emotion. That's why I love setting up the first meeting - it's one of the most emotional and unforgettable moments of the day!

The last time I tried to do my "piano shot" at the Mission Inn I almost got in trouble because the piano in the lobby was a historic relic! We found this one (non historic) piano hidden in one of the corner storage rooms.

It's just so awesome to have a blast during my photo shoots! Gladys and Mike had picked out spots in Downtown Los Angeles and Venice Beach for their engagement pictures, so it was like touring parts of LA that I hadn't seen before. We started at their swanky loft - I had a chance to catch some shots of them during their video interview. Gladys and Mike seemed all ready for the camera!

You gotta check out this unbelievably HUGE rock! It's by far the biggest diamond engagement ring I've seen so far - I'd guess it's about 200 carats? LOL

As in a new studio location! I've been blessed with the best career and business that has been so much better (and more fun) than I had ever imagined it could be. It's been a remarkable journey during the past three years that I plunged into photography as my full time career. I've learned so much along the way, met many inspiring people, and had the opportunity to photograph some gorgeous weddings. And during all this time I would meet people in my home "studio" in La Mirada or in a Starbucks. Soon we'll be moving the gallery/studio to a dedicated space in Fullerton. It's actually a townhouse, and it's gonna be a place where all clients new and old can come visit, have more of my killer iced mocha, chill out, and check out my products. As I come closer to completion I'll post more before and after pictures. For now here is what we got so far:

Joannah and John's wedding at Rancho Las Lomas was simply amazing! I loved the details that they incorporated into their wedding - gorgeous colors, the cake looked fabulous, and they had these really cool custom made M&Ms that had funny phrases (and an inside joke). Of course it also doesn't hurt when you're at a beautiful location like Rancho Las Lomas (now totally on top of my favorite places to shoot in OC).

The Treasure Hunt

This semester at Cypress College blew by so fast! During one of my last shooting assignments, I had the students go out and find several items on campus - a chair, a plant, the Cypress College obelisk, and a book. They had to either find or come up with unique shots and perspectives while varying their compositions. The images they came up with were so cool! Here's a collage of the images that my students took:

In many ways photography is like a "treasure hunt". Every situation, environment, event, or subject can have a story that can be told by images taken of it. And there is always that gem of an image that will tell the story differently by the visual impact it creates. The collage above shows just a few (out of countless) different perspectives and possibilities that a simple object can have. You just have to look for it.

It was a pleasure to teach this semester. I'll be back at Cypress College next Fall in 2009 for the 104C Wedding Photography Class.

Ashley & Scott's Wedding in Dana Point

There was a special place in Ashley's heart for the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Bay. It's where Scott surprised her by proposing to marry him. It's the same spot where Ashley would prepare for her special day. It's where they'll meet for the first time on their wedding. It's also one of my favorite places to shoot because of it's grandeur and gorgeous architecture.

The plan was to photograph their "first meeting" at the St. Regis but Ashley didn't know exactly how it was going to happen.

She thought we were still shooting her solo pictures when Scott snuck up on her from behind! She had the biggest shocked/smile on her face!

Their wedding ceremony and reception was held at the scenic Chart House Restaurant overlooking Dana Point Harbor where we were blessed with fair weather and clear blue skies.

Micah & Mark's Wedding at Aquarium of the Pacific

I'm catching up this week on my blog (finally!) starting with Micah and Mark's gorgeous wedding at Holy Family Catholic Church, then on to their picturesque reception at the Aquarium of the Pacific. This place was truly spectacular! Besides the giant aquariums, we had access to see all the different aquatic life displays, which we used for some of the photo shoot.

The Model Riley

I've never really photographed a working professional model before, until I met Riley. He's so young yet very composed when getting his pictures taken. It's no wonder he regularly lands commercial modeling jobs for big companies such as Target and Disney. That's right, you'll find his face in print ads and online marketing campaigns. I've been looking forward to Kristen and Corey's wedding for some time because I knew they were going to be loads of fun after the first time I met them. They had picked a fabulous place for their wedding ceremony and reception - at Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, CA. Here are just a few favorites, but I'll have their highlights slideshow up soon.

Here's a few shots taken with my newest lens - the Lensbaby Composer. I love how it keeps a small sweet spot while it dramatically distorts and blurs the rest of the composition.

Can't forget certain essentials! And they made it look so good...

I truly enjoyed meeting her lovely bridesmaids and they all made great models. I love hams!

I absolutely love being at the Mission Inn! Wendy and Orion couldn't have picked a more picturesque setting for their wedding and reception. The Mission Inn offers so much as a wedding venue: gorgeous architectural backdrops, inspiring views from the rooftop, and an old world ambiance inside the hotel.

I met up with Wendy at Manhattans of Riverside (hair and makeup salon) while she was still getting ready and she looked amazing!

I had planned Wendy and Orion's rendezvous at the Mission Inn's famous rotunda so we can do an intimate photo session with them. The advantage of this was that we were able to get some truly romantic images of them during their first meeting prior to the ceremony. During this time they also get the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed moment together before the day's schedule began.

The Ciucur Family Portraits in La Mirada

Once in a blue moon I'll do a family portrait session - for a very special family like the Ciucurs. I first met everyone during Corinna and Cristian's wedding last year and so it was a joy to see familiar faces. We met up at Creek Park Park in La Mirada for their photo shoot and it turned out to be so much fun!

Photography 104: Composition

Just an update on the class - after learning the foundations of photography, we're spending more and more time outside shooting and practicing with manual mode settings. This past week's lecture and assignment was finding interesting compositions in any situation.
Composition: the photographer's choice in arranging the elements to show the image's intended meaning. What the photographer shows in his/her picture reflects their style and what they are trying to convey. Composition can include placement of elements, lighting, depth of field, and even the choice in shutter speed. During the class photo shoot, I encouraged my students to use (and design) negative space to lead a viewer's eyes to the subject. All these things combined can contribute to the mood or story that's being told. It's fun to go around and seeing how each person composes their picture differently from the next student.

I had such a blast with Kristina and Raf during their engagement photo shoot in Los Angeles! They told me they felt a little nervous at the start of our shoot, but they warmed up pretty quick. It was fun walking around LA Union Station and finding interesting spots to shoot in that had great lighting.

When I met up with Chris and Crystal at the Wilshire Grand in Los Angeles, I can feel the excitement and anticipation as everyone was getting ready. Crystal was ready to go! Her makeup and hair were looking so gorgeous. They had the wedding details laid out on the bed that were gorgeous and Crystal's custom designed wedding gown was nothing less than amazing. She had it made and flown in from the Philippines.
Her wedding gown is so exquisite and I love every aspect of its design - from the contour, color, and every fine detail. Stunning!

Back at The Turnip Rose

Amber and Rod's incredible wedding took place at one of my favorite wedding venues in Orange County, The Turnip Rose. Everything seemed so perfect - all the details looked amazing (check out the bouquet handles below, created by Vic), the florals were impeccable, Amber's dress was absolutely gorgeous (and her cocktail gown too), her bridesmaids were excited, Amber was ready to go, and Rod was playing "Mr. Cool" and just hanging out with his groomsmen. A big part of this perfection was due to the awesome work and designs of Slomique of Carpe Diem Events. Amber picked out the most gorgeous color combination too.

At the end of the night they were serving chocolate covered strawberries, and so many people were huddled around the dessert station that I had to take a look at what made it so special...

The servers were "injecting" each strawberry dessert with various concoctions! How freakin' amazing is that?!

Of course I had to try one injected with Kahlua, wow it was incredible...

Super Special Guest Jasmine Star

Last week my wedding photography class at Cypress College was graced by a rising star - let me rephrase that - it was more like we were struck by a SUPERNOVA. We had the honor of having Jasmine Star come by to share and inspire my class as our special guest speaker. I met Jasmine a couple of years ago in the beginning stages of her photography career and immediately saw her passion for it. She is an incredibly lovable person, amazing photographer, and a genius writer. In less than two years she has built a fabulously successful business specializing in wedding photography and her blog is one of the most popular and influential resource to countless aspiring (and pro) photographers from all over the world!

During her talk she got right down to the nitty gritty of what made her such a huge success by sharing her story of how she got started in the industry, evaluated what her strengths and assets were, and figured out exactly what she wanted to do. A big part of her success comes through her ability to capitalize on what makes her unique and her branding.

Amy's Maternity Photo Session

The Wedding Photography Class at Cypress College

It's a new year, a new semester, and another rowdy bunch of uncontrollable college students!
Photography 104 C

I truly have a love for photography and a passion for teaching it. Why else would I put up with a classroom full of unruly college students? They throw stuff at me like gum, paper airplanes, and really bad jokes, and none of them listen to what I have to say. But I go on teaching anyways because it's what I love to do. OK, my students aren't really like that at all - they're all well mannered and eager to learn.

This semester I'm teaching wedding photography at Cypress College. The course will cover everything from shooting in manual, to the post process, creating a business plan, and marketing. There will also be an emphasis on having the skills to shoot in changing lighting situations and capturing storytelling images. I'll be posting more pictures as the semester progresses so stay tuned!

Shelby and Joe had such an awesome connection. I just pretty much let them be themselves and kept on shooting as they enjoyed the beach.

At the beginning of our photo shoot we were all hit by a wave so we were soaked from the start! What else is new with me right? Well it was kind of a bummer for Shelby because her it got her hair and makeup wet. But she was a trooper the whole time and didn't let anything keep her from having a good time.

Engagement pictures can be a lot of fun and it's a great opportunity to get to know my clients. I spent the morning with Diana and Gabriel shooting their engagement pictures at the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano and then at Laguna Beach.

It's a great way to witness how they interact, to find out what inspires them and see the love for each other. And for them it's an opportunity to get comfortable in front of me lens.

For me it's about finding the connection between them and then allowing them to be themselves as they interact.

When I'm at the beach I can't help but get in the water. Sometimes that gets me into trouble though when I'm having too much fun and I'm not looking out for waves...

And here's what it looks like when I'm not looking and a wave hits me! I was completely engulfed in water and so was my camera. No worries though since I know the Canon Mark IIn can take a beating like this (same thing happened last year and it still works).

It kept working so I kept shooting (as I was floundering underwater) - I actually love this capture:

Here's a cool picture that I found - I was testing the wave to see where I could place Diana and Gabriel - to see how "safe" it was when a wave hits, so I handed Gabriel my camera. He shot it and maanaged to capture this wave hitting me!

The Huntington Hyatt Regency Wedding

"You're a tiger... be the tiger... rowwwrrrr" LOL!
We did their first meeting at The Huntington Beach Hyat Regency (still one of my all time favorite venues). This meeting between the bride and groom always becomes a special moment because it's the very first time they see each other (before the ceremony or anything else), their emotions are at peak, it's initmate, unrushed, and up close.

The ceremony took place at the Garden Grove United Methodist Church - which had gorgeous stained glass windows and tall ceilings.

Jiwon's bridesmaids were a bunch of hams - they had no problem doing a 'Vanity Fair' type of photo shoot!

We started their engagement pictures at the Walt Disney Concert Hall - this place is just so amazing to take photos in because of the architecture, the lighting, and variety of spots that can be found. I love incorporating architecture with romance!

I actually met Sheba over a year ago at her friend's wedding at the Mission Inn in Riverside. She liked my shooting style back then and she told me she wanted me to photograph her. I didn't hear from Sheba for the longest time but when she got engaged she remembered me, contacted me and here we are!

The Millennium Biltmore Wedding in Los Angeles, continued..

This post is long overdue! I wanted to post some highlight pictures (sooner) from Kevin and Linda's wedding (click here for the teaser slideshow) at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, but it was so difficult picking out just a few favorites. I also tried to pick out images that reflected the Biltmore's Beaux-Arts style and architecture - so you'll see lots of backgrounds and symmetry.

I've gotten to know Linda and Kevin in the last few months and I can see their passion and love for creating something that would truly give their family and guests something to enjoy and remember. They created some of the most amazing details for their wedding - everything from the florals to the ice sculpture, table settings, and center pieces were incredible. Their reception started with grand cocktail hour with countless types of hors 'douvres, guests were welcomed into the ballroom with confetti cannons, dinner started with prawn salad then fillet and jumbo prawn, ending in champagne & mignairdaise with cake, and there's just way too many other incredible details to describe!

Linda went out with a HUGE BANG in five (that's 5) different gowns, including her exquisite wedding dress designed by Anne Barge:

Linda had a very nice 'intimate surprise' for Kevin - it was an elegant full color book of her boudoir photo shoot we did a few months ago. Kevin loved it!

I just had to show the Fabergé Egg again, inside were the wedding rings:

It's hard to tell, but that's a 4' cake (four+ feet tall)

The Millennium Biltmore Wedding in Los Angeles

Here is a quick teaser of Kevin and Linda's wedding at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. It's a short video clip of them practicing their first dance in the hotel lobby and I wanted to make it look like a vintage movie captured with a Super 8mm film to match their wedding theme. Trash the Dress in Los Angeles

I finally have some pictures up from Ruby and Sergio's TTD shoot (trash the dress)! The term doesn't exactly mean we're trashing her Pronovias dress, it's just a shocking name for doing a photo shoot in places that most people wouldn't want to risk getting their designer gown dirty. We make it risky, romantic, and totally sexy! We had to hike for this location, but it was so worth it because where else are you going to find a waterfall in Los Angeles?

Cicada - Los Angeles, CA

Here are just a few of my favorites from Monica and Tony's wedding in Los Angeles. The song on the slideshow is something very special to Monica as she used to sing to her Dad when she was a kid. Tell me if you recognize the singer.Monica and Tony's wedding ceremony took place at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale (one of my favorite cities to live in) and their wedding reception was held at the magnificent Cicada ballroom in Downtown Los Angeles.
I can't say enough to describe the countless advantages there are to doing a first meeting (romantic portrait session before the ceremony). Let's just say we came out with some amazing images because we didn't have the time constraint or pressure during the photo shoot. We started Monica and Tony's first meeting at The Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles.

Indian Wedding Ceremony in Dana Point

4th of July Wedding in Santa Monica

Ok so I'm a little late, but (belated) Happy 4th of July! I spent the day at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica to photograph Aileen and Scott's amazing wedding. They had absolutely beautiful sunny Southern California weather, which I'm sure many of the guests from different parts of the country appreciated. Aileen and Scott's ceremony on the terrace had a breathtaking view of the ocean. Afterwards we had a little fun photo shoot on the beach with their excited bridal party (you guys ROCKED!). Elysian Park, Los Angeles

Jessica and Dave's ceremony took place at the Los Angeles LDS Temple and their reception was held at the beautiful Elysian Park within the Los Angeles Police Academy. But in between the festivities we had the chance to do a photo shoot in Downtown Los Angeles. Dave did great considering he ruptured his achilles tendon (ooouuch!) and had his foot in a cast. He still managed to get around on crutches and he didn't let anything stop him. Our shoot began on the steps of Bunker Hill and continued on to the Los Angeles Union Station. Westlake Village Inn

Congratulations to Michelle and Matthew! Their wedding and reception took place at the beautiful Westlake Village Inn, CA. The weather was sunny and mild (oh man it could have been HOT, but we were blessed with awesome weather). Michelle and her bridesmaids were fun to shoot because they loved to ham it up for the camera! Needless to say Michelle looked amazing in her Reem Acra gown. In the hotel room I found this red chase sofa that I ended up using as an outdoor prop for the pictures. Their portraits on the sofa turned out great – props are always good. The ceremony took place at Westlake's intimate Tuscan Garden. The reception in the Provence Room began with the traditional Jewish Hora - the chair dance. That's always exciting to watch! Here's a few of my favorites from Jiwon and Robin's engagement pictures at Venice and Santa Monica. They wanted some hip fun urban photos so we headed down to Abbott Kinney Blvd to find some cool spots. Jiwon and Robin are adorable - they knew how to have fun and weren't afraid to be themselves. There's plenty of colorful buildings over there - it's almost like an art colony because a lot of the shops and buildings are uniquely designed.
